The Director serves as a vital link between the larger vision of the healthcare institution and unit based delivery of effective, efficient, high quality patient- and family-centered care. The Director is accountable for assigned area(s) of responsibility seven days a week, 24 hours a day, to include 130+ FTEs. This position is vested with decision-making authority to implement strategies, programs, and patient care consistent with the institution's policies, goals and objectives; and reports directly to the SVP/CNO. Requirements: Licensed and registered as a professional nurse in the State of Maryland. Baccalaureate degree or higher from an accredited college/university in Nursing is required. Master's degree in nursing or related field from an accredited college/university required. Strong clinical background in emergency nursing and 5 years of management experience required. Specialty certification preferred. Required Leadership Characteristics: Demonstrated knowledge of program development, fiscal management and familiarity with regulatory and accrediting agency standards. Ability to identify real/potential problems affecting service and implement solutions with follow-through and communication. Building collaborative relationships with other departments to create processes and problem solve issues that affect departmental/organizational goals and/or patient care delivery. Coaching direct reports by providing constructive feedback and facilitating the development of their problem solving and decision making skills. Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy work environment by modeling the standards of behavior and encouraging that in others. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity and respect of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
