experienced Director of Technical Accounting and Financial Policies to provide leadership to our Executive Financial Management team in our Dulles, VA office.Role Description and Responsibilities:The Director of Technical Accounting and Financial Policies is responsible for providing oversight and leadership to the Company's critical and highly technical accounting matters.This visible the role will work closely with operational and other financial leaders and will have responsibility over the development and maintenance of controls over financial reporting as well as SOX 404 compliance certification, and external reporting risk management.This position will also evaluate and take responsibility of higher risk financial and operational processes and will manage all aspects of their related controls systems.A visible part of the position will include "internal" consulting on important control issues and managing related projects throughout the organization.Also this role will be instrumental in the continued integration of our control environment of our acquired business.This high impact and high visibility opportunity will allow someone to put their imprint on our SOX program building it from it from the ground up the way they believe it should be done allowing for SOX to be impactful in a positive manner as well as sustainable.Job Duties:The purpose of this position is to oversee the companys technical accounting matters, including revenue recognition, accounting for complex arrangements, acquisition transactions and treasury accounting, working closely with Financial Reporting and Accounting.The position is also responsible for updating and maintaining the companys Financial Policies and Procedures.- Provide structuring assistance, accounting and policy counsel on an enterprise wide basis with respect to Orbital ATKs significant, unusual and complex transactions and events in a variety of areas, including revenue recognition, acquisitions, divestitures, R&D collaborations and other alliances, annual impairment reviews, financial statement classifications, and other areas- Serve as the primary liaison with the line operations over technical accounting matters including providing accounting counsel for M&A and business development transactions.Analyze strategic deal structures, recommend alternative structures as appropriate, and establish appropriate financial reporting of deals executed.Support the ongoing accounting for collaborations and other strategic alliances.- Partner with FP&A, Treasury and Tax in the structuring and accounting review of transactions, including debt and stock issuances, derivatives, leases, intercompany financing arrangements and other activities.- Establish and maintain Orbital ATKs financial policies and procedures.- Provide formal and informal GAAP and policies training to Finance employees.- Participate in the preparation of the Form 10-Ks, 10-Qs and other SEC filings.- Monitor GAAP and SEC developments and lead the adoption of new accounting and disclosure rules.- Work closely with external auditors on review of technical accounting matters.Experience Requirements:- Very strong technical accounting and research skills- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience- Requisite technical knowledge of GAAP and controlsExperience Preferred:- Previous technical accounting and/or SEC reporting experience for a large company- Considerable Big 4 public accounting experience strongly preferredSkills and Qualifications:- Demonstrated ability to effectively lead multiple projects and balance competing priorities- Strong focus on process improvements- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal (including public speaking skills)- Excellent analytical, teamwork, and
